US From scary to daring, here are five horror movies you might have missed
Synopsis
A fading celebrity takes a black-market drug: a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself… There’s nothing scarier than being human, and these films fully explore the inhuman ways our bodies can betray them. Ray Liotta was cast in the film in February 2022, but died in May of that year before he could shoot his scenes . Dennis Quaid replaced him, but Liotta is still mentioned in the director’s “Thank You Notes”; during the credits..

producer (Dennis Quaid) because of his age
I have to admit, with my review of her first film ("Revenge"), I did Madame Fargeat an injustice because at the time I perceived it as a pseudo-feminist rape-revenge thriller with significant logic problems. But now it’s clear to me: the "message" it’s just the starting point – otherwise she mostly wants to have fun and bring people her awesome style, which I really liked in her first movie. This time it was clear from the start: you don’t even have to think about suspension of disbelief: not-so-young TV celebrity Elizabeth Sparkle (Demi Moore), now a lead dancer in a fitness program, is rejected by it. She then receives the offer to create a younger version of herself (Margaret Qualley) using the substance referred to in the title.
And here Fargeat does his thing – even more so than with “Revenge”
But to do so, rules must be followed and this is becoming more and more difficult, especially for the younger version – with serious consequences. Body horror at its best, almost making Cronenberg, Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna look like rookies. Other horror films are also gleefully referenced (including The Shining, Carrie and Freaks) without seeming contrived or contrived. On the other hand, this movie is in no way scary, even if there are effects that get quite under your skin (I’ll just say “spinal tap”), instead there are plenty of laughs.
because of all the exaggerated actions
And huge respect for Demi Moore! It takes a lot of courage to expose yourself and let yourself be portrayed like that!. Check out our list of exciting new films from this year’s film festivals, including Venice, TIFF, the New York Film Festival and more.
