Two delinquent twin brothers, one of whom is trying to make amends, embark on a dangerous heist. Faced with legal troubles, gunfights, and family drama, they must reconcile their differences before their mission leads to their own destruction. The final film appearance of actor M. Emmett Walsh (Judge Farful). (March 22, 1935 – March 19, 2024). The film’s biggest flaw was simple: many of the characters in this film are over-the-top to the point that you can’t take them seriously. For example, Brendan Fraser, despite being a Hollywood icon with some truly incredible films under his belt, was a doozy. His character had a cartoonish, over-the-top, and somewhat childish demeanor that simply wasn’t believable. I lay the blame for this mistake at the feet of the man who set the tone for the film, director Max Barbakov. It was a huge step back from his last film, Palm Springs, which was quite enjoyable. The relationship between Brolin and Dinklage, our titular “brothers,” felt forced and boring at times throughout the film. Their arguments felt scripted, which is the exact opposite of what you want to feel in a movie. I never got invested in their family development because the writing never made the audience feel those feelings. All in all, the lackluster writing was only exacerbated by the sluggish on-screen chemistry. It might be worth a watch if you’ve checked out the many streaming catalogs available, but it shouldn’t be on your to-do list. 4/10.
