Synopsis
Deadpool is offered a place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by the Time Diversion Authority, but instead recruits a variant of Wolverine to save his universe from extinction. He then said he regretted that statement after watching the first Deadpool movie and expressed to Ryan his interest in seeing the two characters meet on the big screen. When asked why he decided to return for this film, he simply said, “I just wanted to do it, and I felt it in my gut,” adding that he wanted to have the best time ever on a movie set with Ryan Reynolds. Likewise, Reynolds had wanted to work alongside Jackman since the first Deadpool movie and was saddened when he (Jackman) pulled out of the role..

It’s not perfect, but it’s still pretty fun
Lately there’s been a temptation to look at films that aren’t perfect as disappointments, and I hope that’s not the case here. Deadpool and Wolverine have been teased together since the 2009 disaster X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. The goal of the film is to find a balance between being accessible to casual viewers and at the same time satisfying die-hard fans of the characters. However, the film also faces the challenge of navigating the complex and intricate web of continuity that exists within the Marvel Universe.

With close to 50 (!) movies in its continuity (not including the TV shows and Sony movies), the Deadpool and Wolverine movie had to carefully thread the needle to ensure its respected established lore while still providing a fresh and interesting story. Despite the potential baggage of their expansive continuity, Deadpool and Wolverine function independently. The last season of the series "What We Do in the Shadows" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
