Gary Oldman was originally rumored to be cast, but was replaced by Kevin Kline
Synopsis
It follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a television documentary journalist whose work has been built on exposing the transgressions of long-respected institutions. In several episodes, Jonathon uses the same lens throughout the series, a medium-length telephoto lens.
The series is too long, too drawn out
Such a lens would be incapable of focusing on close-up subjects, like selfies with Sasha or in the bedroom with Catherine. I’ve never read the book, so I judge the series as a standalone.
Clearly setting up for a “twist” The constant, detailed sex scenes are just yuck
It was intriguing and mysterious in the first few episodes, but by episode five, I was like, “Oh my God, just wrap it up.” Catherine’s silence/constant interruptions while trying to tell her side of the story just feels like a plot device to keep the story moving forward. Literally porn.
that last ten minutes, my first choice would not be Apple TV+
I don’t mind sex scenes, but if I want to watch “detailed” sex scenes, I’ll watch them.
